Great Tides Waterpark Cabana Review: Is It Worth It at Great Stirrup Ca
I recently visited Great Tides Waterpark during opening weekend while sailing aboard the Norwegian Getaway, and my family rented a waterpark cabana for the day.…
If you’re considering booking The Haven by Norwegian®, choosing the right ship, suite, itinerary, and sailing can make a big difference in your vacation.
I’m Joy Your Travel Expert, and I specialize in helping travelers plan cruise vacations—including premium experiences in The Haven by Norwegian. The Haven offers an elevated way to experience Norwegian Cruise Line, combining many of the amenities of a larger cruise ship with exclusive spaces, upgraded accommodations, personalized service, and additional perks reserved for Haven guests. But not every Haven experience is exactly the same.
Different Norwegian ships offer different Haven layouts, suite categories, amenities, restaurants, outdoor spaces, and experiences. That’s where working with a Norwegian Haven travel agent who understands the product can help. Whether you’re already convinced The Haven is for you or you’re trying to decide whether the upgrade is worth the price, I can help you compare your options and find the right Norwegian cruise for your vacation.
The Haven by Norwegian is Norwegian Cruise Line’s premium ship-within-a-ship experience. Haven guests stay in some of the most desirable suites aboard the ship while receiving access to exclusive amenities and personalized service. Depending on the ship, The Haven experience may include features such as:
The exact experience varies by ship and suite category, which is one reason I recommend looking beyond the words “The Haven” when choosing your cruise. The goal isn’t simply to book a Haven suite; it’s to book the right Haven suite, on the right ship, for the type of vacation you want.
For me, one of the biggest advantages of The Haven is having two different vacation experiences available on the same cruise. You can step outside The Haven and enjoy everything a Norwegian ship has to offer, including restaurants, entertainment, activities, bars, pools, nightlife, and more, then return to the quieter, more exclusive environment of The Haven.
That combination can be especially appealing to travelers who want an upscale cruise experience without giving up the variety and entertainment of a larger ship.
Haven accommodations range from premium suites to larger multi-bedroom options, depending on the ship. For families, couples, multigenerational groups, and travelers who simply enjoy having more room, the additional space can be an important part of the experience. Suite layouts can vary significantly, though, so I can help you understand what you’re actually getting before you book.
On many ships, Haven guests have access to dedicated areas that can include a private courtyard, pool, hot tubs, lounge spaces, restaurant, bar, and sundeck. Because the amenities and design vary by ship, features such as the Haven courtyard, restaurant, outdoor space, or pool should be part of the ship-selection process if they are especially important to you.
The personalized service is another feature that separates The Haven from a standard Norwegian stateroom. Haven guests typically have access to concierge assistance as well as butler service. Your concierge can help with many aspects of your onboard experience, while your butler provides personalized service related to your suite. For travelers celebrating a milestone or simply looking for a more relaxing vacation, this level of service can be a major part of The Haven experience.
This is one of the most common questions I hear, and my answer is that it depends on what you value when you travel. The Haven can make a lot of sense if you value things like:
It may also be a great option for someone who enjoys luxury travel but still wants the activities and entertainment available aboard a large cruise ship. On the other hand, if you plan to spend very little time in your suite or Haven areas and your primary goal is simply getting aboard the ship at the lowest possible price, a Haven suite may not provide enough additional value for you.
I don’t believe every traveler needs to book The Haven. My job is to help you decide whether it makes sense for your vacation and your budget.
This is especially important to keep in mind when researching The Haven. Norwegian Cruise Line has multiple classes and generations of ships, and the Haven experience has evolved over time. That means you shouldn’t assume that booking The Haven on one Norwegian ship will give you exactly the same experience as booking it on another.
Depending on the ship, differences can include:
Even two Haven suite categories with similar names can offer very different layouts or locations. When I help you plan your trip, we can compare the ships and accommodations rather than simply choosing whichever Haven option appears first in a search.
Picking the right suite is one of the most important parts of planning a Haven vacation. Depending on the ship, Norwegian may offer Haven accommodations designed for couples, families, or larger groups. Some travelers prioritize an incredible balcony, while others want multiple bedrooms. Some want to be located directly within the Haven complex, while others may prefer a particular suite layout elsewhere on the ship while still receiving Haven privileges.
When helping you choose, I look at factors such as:
A couple celebrating an anniversary may have very different needs than a family traveling with children or a multigenerational group.
Balcony sizes, configurations, and views can vary between suite categories, so it’s important to understand the differences before choosing a room.
A larger suite can be extremely valuable when several people are traveling together, particularly when the room will serve as a place to relax between activities and excursions.
Location matters. Some Haven accommodations may be located within the main Haven complex, while others can be located elsewhere on the ship. I can help explain those differences before you make your decision.
Moving from one Haven category to another can sometimes mean a significant jump in price. I’ll help you look at what you’re actually gaining from the upgrade so you can decide whether it’s worth it for you.
The Haven can be an especially interesting option for families because you get the activities and entertainment of a Norwegian cruise while having an upscale space to return to when you want a quieter environment. Depending on the ship and suite category, families may also have access to accommodations with multiple bedrooms, additional bathrooms, larger living areas, and other features that can make traveling together much easier.
For higher-end family travel, I think this is one of the biggest strengths of The Haven. You don’t necessarily have to choose between a smaller luxury ship and a large family-friendly cruise ship; The Haven can provide elements of both experiences.
The Haven isn’t just for families. It can also be a fantastic option for couples looking for a premium getaway, anniversary trip, honeymoon, or simply a more relaxing cruise experience. You can spend your day enjoying Norwegian’s activities and ports of call, have dinner or see a show, and then retreat to The Haven.
For couples who like upscale hotels and resorts but also enjoy the energy of a larger cruise ship, The Haven can be a great fit.
You can certainly book a Norwegian cruise yourself, but when you’re spending Haven-level money on a vacation, I believe having someone who knows the product in your corner has real value. When you work with me, I’m not simply looking for an available Haven room. I’m helping you find the vacation that makes sense for you.
I’ll help you compare Norwegian ships based on your priorities. If The Haven itself is a major reason for booking, we’ll make the Haven experience part of the ship-selection process.
I’ll help you understand the differences between available suite categories, including layouts, locations, and features.
The ship matters, but so does where you’re going. I’ll help you evaluate itineraries, departure ports, cruise lengths, and destinations.
Cruise terminology can get confusing quickly. I’ll help explain your options in plain English so you know what you’re paying for.
This may be the biggest benefit of working with a travel agent. Instead of researching every question yourself, you have someone you can reach out to for help. My goal is to make planning your vacation easier from the beginning.
