The HIDDEN SECRETS of Harry Potter World at Universal Studios

Are you planning a trip to Harry Potter World? Universal Studios has a ton to offer for families, from butter beer to the wand shop. There is a new adventure around every corner! Today I’m going to shed some light on some of the lesser-known features of Harry Potter World! Keep reading to learn more!

Gringotts Money Exchange

When you step into Gringotts, you can turn your muggle money (aka U.S. currency) into wizarding bank notes in $10 or $20 denominations. But to take the magic a step further, you can use these banknotes for purchases in Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and select locations throughout Universal Orlando Resort! But don’t worry, any unused wizarding money can be changed back to U.S. currency at Guest Services; you can even talk to the goblins while you’re in the exchange!

The Owlery

Did you know you can send a postcard or letter through the Owl Post? You can purchase official stationary and postage stamps inside the shop or bring an already stamped envelope. *One quick tip, be sure to leave space for the special Hogsmeade Postmark; from then on, it’s the owl’s job to deliver your mail back home to family and friends. While at the Owlery, you can see the owls perched above if you look up at the rafters. Remember to keep an eye on the Owlery’s cuckoo clock; on the hour, it goes off, and an owl (of course!) pops out.

Moaning Myrtle

Moaning Myrtle was a great character in the Harry Potter series, the infamous ghost who haunted the girl’s bathroom on the second floor of the castle. In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, she can be heard lamenting in the bathroom at Hogsmeade. When you walk in, you can hear her complaining about people making fun of her, but her softer side will invite you back to visit.

Knockturn Alley

For the brave wizards and witches out there, take a trip down Knockturn Alley, and you’ll find Borgin and Burkes, the shady store known for selling dark arts and rare finds. A keen observer will notice Death Eater masks, skulls, and costume replicas. You might even catch a glimpse of the Hand of Glory or the Vanishing Cabinet; if you listen carefully, you can hear the chirping of the bird that Draco used as a test to sneak Death Eaters into Hogwarts. A spooky must-see!

Magical Menagerie

The Magical Menagerie is a fun stop. But if you take a peek by the window on the side of the building before you head inside, you’ll notice a giant snake that will speak Parseltongue to you. If you happen to speak the language…
